Camera

Hidden above,
yet so clearly visible,
judging eyes watch over you.

Caught in a continuous playback,
it captures your every moment,
forever set in stone.

The brick alleyway is dark, empty,
except for the eyes of a camera.

Looking ahead,
you notice something looking back at you.
For a minute you are frightened
but then you realize
there in the middle of nowhere
is a camera.
Just when you think that no one can see you
Right there, everything you just did
has been recorded for all the world to see.

Lights

Lights,
millions abandoned,
their wasted power left behind,
guiding the way of untraveled paths,
lighting the way down cold, empty streets.

Millions shining, unknown to anyone.

But just one flicker or surge-
one blackout from the storm,
and the whole world turns to chaos.

Complaints and worries flood the media,
angry that they have to survive a few
hours or minutes without the use of their
televisions... computers,

Making such a short amount of time feel like so much longer.

After a while, the power is restored, the appliances working again,
and the lights are turned back on.

Everything is back to normal.

But what should happen if we forever lost
our light?

-Monica

---------------------------------

A misleading light,
the streets are empy and dark.
all you can see staring at you
is the one and only light.

you follow it to see where it leads
and find that you've ended up nowhere.
alone again.
in the darkness.

Filth

Crossing the barriers
of which we've built
has never been so hard.

Who would've thought
that the roads we've paved
will once again
return to filth.

Waterfalls.
The sound reminds us of a happier time.
Brings us back to the good days.
when we were younger.
and the only worries we had
were being home in time for dinner.
Suddenly, we see how things have changed.
and how much we miss those days.
but there is nothing we can do about it.
All we can do, is live for tomorrow.
and to cherish the memories we have.
because you can never relive them.

- Stella

Crossing a bridge,
you stop for a moment to look at the water.
you stare deep into the ripples
and you see
someone staring back at you.
For awhile, you never thought you could recognize that person.
Who has changed so,
but then you look deeper.
and you realize that it is you.
and with all the mistakes you have made.
you still have the strength to go on and keep walking.

- Stella

Taking a walk,
to relieve some stress
you come apon a lonely railroad track.
you follow it to see if maybe it will lead you somewhere.
Maybe to a happier place.
But then you get to the end,
and you see
it's nothin but a dead end.

- Stella

We build roads, railroad tracks, and bridges,
connecting one point to the next,
dragging us to any destination desired,
providing access to the world.

Eventually, things get out of control.
Fences, walls, and barriers are built,
rules are made and meant to be followed,
signals and warning signs,
decorate every road we travel.

For the more we advance into the world,
the more society fears loss of control.
